Turret design for Rogue One. I originally did had what we called the squashed version and then we decided to scale it up since the design got lost pretty quickly once we set it up on the scene, specially since the color scheme was close to the rocks from the planet. The practical set was not part of the turret until I came up with the of idea of combining the Turbo-Laser with the bunker structure; originally it was remotely controlled. The director thought it was a simple but practical solution and made more sense in a scene that followed were a TIE Fighter crashes on the viewport. I got to hand my 3D model to the modeling department and they did the final adjustments and texturing for the final film. .
